One of the most sure-fire ways to slow down writing--or stall it altogether--is to listen to the Censor. The Critic. The Editor. It is the little devil that sits on every writer's shoulder and says, "This is crap. Your mom will read this and wonder where she failed. Your friends will read this and marvel that you're so twisted." And so on.

Let me tell you one thing I know: If you write for the Censor, you will write things so lukewarm and safe as to never touch anyone. [...]
